Pros:
Rugged design & solid construction. Very accurate. Straight forward and easy to use.
Cons:
I only wish the screen very larger.
Comment:
This GPS is still the standard when comparing newer models. Many of the newer Garmin units are inferior to this old workhorse.

This is my first hand-held GPS. All my geocaching friends reccommended it. I'm still learning its complete operation.

Very satisfied

Pros:
More sensitive than previous units. Longer battery life.
Cons:
Bigger than the Etrex, and no improvements in their pathetic software and maps.
Comment:
Garmin could be a great company, but it's only a mediocre one. Everyone who buys one of these has to go through the same problems. Their hardware is good, their software is crap. Their maps are worse. Third party maps are a must, so Garmin makes it almost impossible to use them.
I gave it an '8' for functions as some number was required for this survey, but how would I know? There is no landmark within ten miles of here on the supplied map.
My Etrex died (shortly after the warrenty expired) and can't be fixed, so I bought this. So far, I haven't been able to install a decent map of my area. (It took many hours of work on the Etrex also). It's function is impressive, but without a decent map, what good is it?

Pros:
Waterproof, and is motorcycle friendly. It runs on TWO AA batteries (available anywhere). Why have internal battery that must be charged in such a device? This also means that after a few years I have no issues with batteries needing replacement- which would render a unit useless otherwise. My actual runtime exceeds 30hrs on a single pair of 2100mAH NiMH RECHARGEABLE AA batteries! The system and displays are very configurable for any use or need, and able to accept legacy mapsource data from a PC. Has the original "GARMIN" connector PLUS a USB port which either can be used to transfer data or to power the unit. Accuracy and SENSITIVITY are unmatched in any unit I have seen. It has an ELECTRONIC COMPASS which helps orient the map when not moving, as well as a Barometer which helps with altitude, as well as weather predictions. The system supports TOPO Mapsets, although it does not display them in 3-D. (same is true for waterways mapset)
Cons:
Only holds a mapset up to 2048MB (fat32 only) on the MicroSD card (ships with a 256Mb MicroSD). Mapsource software limitations are also about 2020 maps or less at one time. Does not display TOPO in 3-d, but not a real big deal unless flying. Harder to use for address/data entry since unit has no touch screen, but a welcome trade for being rugged if that is what you need. The mapset that it ships with is not loaded with ANY points of interest except for "LANDMARKS" (churches/schools) and for the most part is USELESS. So if you do not have (or can obtain) the MAPSOURCE data of your choice, it will not be a good GPS unit for driving unless you upgrade it with the mapsource data, which costs about as much as an entire "second" GPS unit which you can leave in your car!
Comment:
If you already have a GPS that you leave in your car (and if you don't- check out the Magellan Maestro 4250- it's cheap and awesome for driving uses only), but if you want one to have with you for ANY OTHER purpose than driving (it will do that too, just not as easy to use as a touchscreen larger display when in a car), then this is the best system I have found so far. It is RELIABLE and does not FREEZE up like some other models available, and it is configurable for nearly any purpose you would need a locator...
(if Garmin would give a free MAPSOURCE credit with this system, or ship it with "CITY NAVIGATOR NORTH AMERICA" which is what you will need to drive with routing and points of interest.)

Pros:
Works excellent in deep canyons and thick tall forest area's. Simple set up and integration with PC. Light weight with excellent navigation ability.
Cons:
The only con is the unit does not come with detailed pre-installed maps. You will need to purchase the maps seperatley.
Comment:
Overall? Wow! The 60CSx is awesome. I hardwired it to my WR450 and have had no problems at all. I suggest you spend the extra money for a high quality mount if you use it on the trail. I ride 97% knarly single track in the Eastern Sierra's & I've logged over 6500 hard miles since Feb. 2008. Not one glich other than me pushing the wrong button while riding. This is a great GPS for any outdoor user.

Pros:
Satellite detection is much better than my old Garmin (Vista). Does not lose satellites in heavy tree cover.

I do not like the fact that only the gc numbers appear on the find menu, for geo caching. Seeing the name of the cache would be better.

Overall I am happy with the purchase, the price was the best on the internet.

Pros:
looks nice
Cons:
too much useless garbage loaded like games and a calculator
Comment:
This is my second review, I guess they didn't like the first one. It's obvious most of the people writing reviews here don't have a clue about using a gps. It LOOKED like the one I needed but as soon as I turned it on and saw a 'games' and 'calculator' icon, I knew I had been screwed, and it would cost about $80 to return it. The clipart icons are a joke and there are too many. You cannot save a trackback as a route. In Kodiak the Mapsource has the streets about 300 feet off, like out in the harbor and it is very annoying the way it gives elevations everywhere the pointer goes. Mapsource works just 'ok' on the computer but is a nuisance on the unit. I didn't buy it to find my way to the 'Waffle House' or 'Taco Via'. If I wanted a streetpilot I would have bought one. This thing is so annoying I don't even use it after only one month and I suppose most of these people have also set it aside without figuring out what a joke it is. As for your 'geocaching' I may start finding those things and throwing them away, how gay can you get?
