Have only been using this product for about 2 weeks, and still have lots to learn, but have been very impressed with its capabilities and quality of scans it produces from negatives.

Pros:
Slow
Cons:
Good resolution and digital ice works nicely
Comment:
Great product for the price and the resolution is good. The digital ice works nicely for fine particles of dust but you still must clean every slide with a small blast of air for larger particles will show on the scan.Setting the image type to 48 bit color and the resolution to 2400 dpi results in a time of approx. 11 minutes to scan 4 slides. I have my work cut out for me as I have over 1,800 slides to scan. The scanned pictures are being loaded onto the Kodak Easy Share digital picture frame I received for Christmas and I''m happy with the colors and resolution.

I bought the scanner mainly for scanning larger than normal slides and it is fantastic. So far I have scanned 300+ slides. Before buying the scanner, I looked into having them done at a photo store-cost was $4.95 per slide. The scanner has paid for itself

I''ve had the scanner for two months and have copied almost 1000 slides and negatives. Scanning multiple slides or negatives with a press of the button and the quality results, impressed me.

Pros:
All sizes of film plus flatbed for photos. Included OCR software and Adobe Elements.
Can''t beat the price for such high end unit.
Very easy installation and set up.
Color correction works well.
Cons:
Sometimes will split an image in the wrong place.
Comment:
Had it connected and up and running in minutes. (XP Pro) My PC is 6 years old so I bumped up the memory to a gig and will see about adding USB 2 for more speed. I''ve tried all different film formats and slides and very happy. I don''t even go as high a resolution as it is capable of to get the quality I want.

Pros:
excellent machine for scanning my slide collection. ICE software is amazing. Such high resolution capabilities - I just wish I had the memory to make use of it all.
Cons:
Auto pilot mode doesn''t have as high resolution as I would like to use. A bit fussy to load, but these don''t really compare to the great "pros"
Comment:
Best gadget I''ve bought in a long time.

Pros:
Software installed easily and without a hitch. Does an excellent job of scanning color negatives. ICE does a great job at removing dust.
Cons:
Film holder is flimsy.
Comment:
I''m a professional photographer that now uses a digital camera but I need a scanner that serves both as a copier and yet can scan my old color negatives with high quality scans. The V500 does a fantastic job with color negatives. I''ve compared it to scans from a dedicated film scanner and am hard pressed to see any difference with the resulting scans.
The software provides 3 modes for scanning:1/Totally automatic; 2/Home Mode which gives you some scanning options; 3/Professional Mode which gives you total control of the scan. Profession Mode gives you a lot of scanning options and corrections before the final scan. Professional Mode is the only mode I''ve used for scanning film negatives. For use as a copier I just use automatic.
My only complaint is I wish Epson had beefed up their film holder. The film holder does hold film securely in place but its flimsy. That issue aside, for the money, you can''t beat this scanner.
