Overall ratings: 9.1 out of 10
Pros:
This unit with the avalible maps crosses the uses of both a quality marine chart plotter with the ability to be used in a car for incredible acurate road maps and tracking. The computer interface with the Trip & Waypoint Manager program (incl.) makes this a truly amazing GPS system.
Cons:
Screen is a little hard to see without the back light on. I use the backlight most of the time and this does consume battery power faster.
Comment about Garmin GPSMAP 76Cx Portable Navigator
When you add the chart pack, realize that you will only get one section of the country and not the whole country as with the metro (street) map pack. I bought it primarily for my boat and the chart plotting and it works excellant if not amazing. But the real beauty is that it also works so well in the car. Expect to shell out extra for the maps and I recomend an upgrade from the 128mb chip it comes with to a 1 gig, that should cover anything you may ever do with this gps. Interfacing it with you computer will cover any possible extra memory you might need. I have tried other gps's and would never own anything but a Garmin, this is a upgrade to the one I have had for 10 years and they really have this down.
