Pros:
Quieter than the Minolta color laser printer I replaced. Time from sleep mode to print production is relatively short. Great quality printing. Easy setup (could be somewhat challenging for a novice computer user).
Cons:
A minor issue is the warm-up time on the scanner -- a bit slow. Once warmed up, it is a speedy scanner! The bundled software was problematic, but only for the PC. I installed it on Windows XP. All printer functions were accessible through my network, but NOT if I used the Brother Control Center. Brother tech support quickly determined the problem and directed me to a different TWAIN driver for win xp. Problem solved. (XP is quickly becoming a "legacy" OS!) Also installed on several MACs. Of course it was quick and flawless.
Comment:
An excellent all-in-one for the money. PC Nation was offering a price well below any other vendor. Shipping was a bit slower than promised, otherwise I'm quite satisfied overall.

Envelope Printing trick. In response to a review by Marianne. This was ped on to me by a fellow reviewer on Amazon and works.
If you open the back access panel there are two little gray levers, one on each end of the roller. They can be placed in one of three positions - up, middle, and down. They are most likely in the up position from the manufacturer. If you put them both in the down position the machine will handle your envelopes without wrinkling them. I had the same problem initially, and since learning this trick, the envelopes come out nicely.
